Welcome to Wajer
At Wajer Yachts in Heeg, we build world-class yachts. We deliver approximately 65 yachts in series annually, including the Wajer 38, 44, 55 and 77. Over 400 people work daily on our promise to owners: "Without a worry".
This promise does not end at delivery. Wajer Care maintains the fleet from the shipyard and from our hubs in Saint-Tropez, Ibiza, Mallorca, Miami and The Hamptons. That means many invoices: maintenance, service, refits, mooring and charters. And therefore also invoices that are not paid on time.
That is where your work begins. You ensure that an invoice that has been open for 15 days does not remain unpaid, and that our Care colleagues can focus on the yachts again.
What you will do
You handle all invoices that have not been paid after 15 days. You call and email the owner, the captain or the office that pays for the yacht. Usually it is straightforward: the invoice has been overlooked, and a friendly call or a clear reminder gets the money in.
Sometimes not. Then a customer says something is not right. You find out if that is the case. If justified, you arrange a credit note with the Care colleagues. If unjustified, you stand firm.
For example, an owner has three invoices outstanding: a service, an upgrade and the summer mooring. He finds the € 4,000 service too expensive and therefore pays nothing. You get the work order and call the Care colleague who did the work. They explain to the owner what happened. You arrange that the other two invoices are now paid, document the agreement and call back a week later. This way there is one point of contact, even if multiple colleagues are involved with a customer.
Additionally:
- You keep track per customer of what has been agreed and when you will follow up.
- You coordinate with the colleague who creates the invoices and with Wajer Care.
- You escalate only genuine disputes to management, and maintain control even then.
- You report on outstanding items and identify where the process can improve. We are now introducing automatic reminders and a payment link on invoices.
Your environment
You are part of the Finance team and report to the Head of Finance & Accounting. The work is in the systems, so you do not need to be in Heeg every day. However, you are in the office in Heeg once per week or once every two weeks, to align with the billing and Care colleagues.
Lines of communication at Wajer are short. We are a family business with international standing: straightforward, direct, and with customers around the world.
What you bring
You are persistent and at the same time courteous. You call a yacht owner without sounding like a bailiff, and you do not let yourself be fobbed off. What you agree on, you carefully document.
Furthermore you have:
- A completed MBO-4 qualification, for example in financial administration or business administration.
- Several years of experience in accounts receivable or credit control where you called customers yourself.
- Good Dutch and English, spoken and written.
- Experience with an ERP system. (Dynamics 365 as a plus)
- Experience with international or demanding customers is a nice to have.
What you can expect
- A position of 24 to 32 hours per week.
- 8% holiday allowance and a good pension scheme via PME.
- Travel expense allowance of € 0.25 per kilometre.
- Room to develop yourself through training and courses.
