Job description

A distinguished private family on the French Riviera is seeking an experienced Motor Yacht Captain and Estate Operations Manager to oversee both their newbuild motor yacht and coastal estate. This unique dual role combines full command of a vessel in the 24-30m range with operational management of the family's private residence.

The yacht is exclusively for family use, with cruising primarily in the Western Mediterranean, focusing on the French and Italian Rivieras.

This is a permanent, live-in position offering exceptional compensation and benefits, including private furnished accommodation and a dedicated vehicle.

The successful candidate will report directly to the family and work independently across both maritime and estate responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain full operational and navigational command of a new-build motor yacht under 200 GT

• Execute passage planning, safety drills, customs and port clearances, and all deck operations

• Manage warranty coordination, shipyard liaison, and service scheduling with the Italian

builder and local marine suppliers

• Oversee maintenance, seasonal turnarounds, and sea-readiness for the 40ft+ chase boat

• Provide operational oversight of the private coastal estate

• Coordinate day-to-day liaison with domestic staff, specialist contractors, landscapers, and

security team

• Implement and maintain preventative maintenance schedules across all property systems

• Manage key holding, contractor access, and security protocols

• Provide logistics support for future property development projects

• Ensure seamless coordination between maritime and estate operations

Requirements

• Holds an MCA Master (Yachts) under 200 GT, Capitaine 200, or commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification valid for the vessel's registered length

• Current STCW Basic Safety Training, valid ENG1, and GMDSS/VHF certification

• Clean international driving license

• Proven experience as Captain on modern motor yachts between 20m and 30m

• Hands-on experience during a new-build delivery or warranty period is highly valued

• Fluency in both English and French is mandatory

• Experience in luxury villa management or high-end private household operations is a strong advantage

• Conversational Spanish and basic Italian are beneficial for shipyard and supplier communications

• Discreet, highly organized, and capable of working autonomously

• Able to transition seamlessly between bridge protocol and household management standards

• Professional demeanor, exceptional attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining the highest standards in both maritime and estate operations.

Work conditions

• Permanent, live-in position based on the French Riviera, between Nice and Monaco

• Private, furnished two-bedroom apartment on the estate, provided year-round

• Full-time use of a premium vehicle, with all insurance and maintenance covered

• Complete seasonal uniforms from a leading marine outfitter

Salary

Starting salary from €10,000 net per month, negotiable for candidates with strong command experience
