Job Description
About Sunseeker International
Sunseeker was founded on a bold vision: to create a new kind of yacht and redefine what was possible on the water. From our earliest designs in 1967, we’ve pushed boundaries and reshaped the motor yacht industry through innovation, craftsmanship and relentless ambition.
At the heart of every Sunseeker lies a legacy of expert hands and meticulous attention to detail, skills refined and passed down through generations. These are the qualities that set our yachts apart - and the qualities that continue to drive our craft today.
In a world increasingly defined by automation, we remain committed to building hand‑crafted, hand‑finished boats. With over 1,800 talented team members across our busy shipyards - from long‑serving specialists to more than 180 apprentices - our Sunseeker workforce reflects the strength, diversity and pride of our local community. It’s this blend of heritage, skill and passion that makes our shipyards unlike any other place in the world.
Who We Are Seeking
Sunseeker International is looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Scaffolder to join our Facilities team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced scaffolder who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, maintaining the highest safety standards, and supporting a world-renowned luxury yacht manufacturer.
We are seeking a reliable and proactive individual with a flexible approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across a variety of scaffolding projects and supporting wider yard and lifting operations when required.
A Day in the Life
No two days are the same in this varied role. You will be responsible for erecting, modifying, inspecting, and dismantling scaffolding structures across Sunseeker sites, supporting maintenance, production, and facilities activities to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
Working closely with site teams and the Facilities Manager, you will contribute to safe working practices, participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings, complete essential documentation, and help maintain a compliant working environment. You may also assist with lifting operations, temporary structures, maintenance activities, and travel between Sunseeker locations as operational needs require.
Example Responsibilities Include
- Erecting, altering, inspecting, and dismantling a variety of scaffolding systems, including independent, tower, birdcage, cantilever, slung, truss-out, and proprietary scaffold structures.
- Installing and removing suspended access equipment and specialist scaffold designs.
- Erecting and dismantling temporary buildings, sheeting, and shrink-wrap structures.
- Supporting yard and lifting operations to meet business demands.
- Assisting with maintenance activities where required.
- Participating in risk assessments, method statements, and safety investigations.
- Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with legislation, company procedures, permits, and industry best practice.
- Maintaining PPE and safety equipment and reporting any incidents or near misses.
- Completing permits, records, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, site management, and safety representatives to deliver safe and efficient operations.
To Be Considered for This Role You Should Have
- Proven experience carrying out scaffolding operations safely and competently.
- A valid and in-date Scaffolding Part 1 qualification (essential).
- Strong knowledge of scaffolding systems, erection techniques, and dismantling practices.
- A commitment to maintaining high safety standards and following safe systems of work.
- The ability to work effectively at height and make sound practical decisions.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities and operational requirements.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to undertake additional training.
- Experience within construction, heavy industrial, manufacturing, marine, or boat-building environments would be advantageous.
- Scaffolding Part 2 qualification and an HGV Class 2 licence would be desirable but are not essential.
