Job Description

About Sunseeker International

Sunseeker was founded on a bold vision: to create a new kind of yacht and redefine what was possible on the water. From our earliest designs in 1967, we’ve pushed boundaries and reshaped the motor yacht industry through innovation, craftsmanship and relentless ambition.

At the heart of every Sunseeker lies a legacy of expert hands and meticulous attention to detail, skills refined and passed down through generations. These are the qualities that set our yachts apart - and the qualities that continue to drive our craft today.

In a world increasingly defined by automation, we remain committed to building hand‑crafted, hand‑finished boats. With over 1,800 talented team members across our busy shipyards - from long‑serving specialists to more than 180 apprentices - our Sunseeker workforce reflects the strength, diversity and pride of our local community. It’s this blend of heritage, skill and passion that makes our shipyards unlike any other place in the world.

Who We Are Seeking

At Sunseeker International, we're looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Trainee Scaffolder to begin a rewarding career within our Facilities team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, takes pride in doing a job well, and wants to learn a skilled trade within a world-class manufacturing environment.

You do not need previous scaffolding experience. What matters most is a positive attitude, a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and a genuine desire to learn. We will provide training, mentoring, and support as you develop the skills, knowledge, and qualifications required to become a fully competent Scaffolder.

A Day in the Life

As a Trainee Scaffolder, you'll spend your days learning from experienced members of the team while gaining valuable hands-on experience across our sites. You'll assist with the safe erection, modification, inspection, and dismantling of scaffolding structures that support the construction and maintenance of some of the world's finest luxury motor yachts.

Every day provides an opportunity to learn something new. You'll work outdoors and indoors, develop practical skills, gain an understanding of health and safety requirements, and build confidence using specialist equipment and techniques. As your experience grows, you'll take on increasing responsibility and work towards recognised industry qualifications.

Example Responsibilities Include

  • Assisting qualified Scaffolders with the assembly and dismantling of scaffolding structures.
  • Learning how to safely handle, store, and transport scaffolding materials and equipment.
  • Supporting the preparation of work areas and maintaining high housekeeping standards.
  • Following safe systems of work and company health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Attending toolbox talks, training courses, and development activities.
  • Learning how to inspect equipment and identify potential safety concerns.
  • Assisting with temporary access solutions and supporting wider Facilities activities when required.
  • Using PPE correctly and helping to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Working closely with colleagues and supervisors to develop practical skills and industry knowledge.
  • Developing towards recognised scaffolding qualifications and long-term career progression opportunities.

To Be Considered for This Role You Should Have

  • A genuine interest in learning a skilled trade and building a long-term career.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced colleagues.
  • Good practical aptitude and an enjoyment of hands-on work.
  • A strong awareness of the importance of health and safety.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a good work ethic.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to ask questions and learn.
  • The ability to carry out a physically active role and work at height following appropriate training.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English would be advantageous but are not essential.
  • Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, labouring, or a trade environment would be beneficial but is not required.
